{TWWM} Autumn Lights, Orlea's Conclusion
For the first time in what felt like a long time, Orlea saw home. Currently, they were stood in the abandoned apartment that connected to their balcony. Orlea lifted a foot, seeing the shape of it left in the layer of dust that covered the entire space. It appeared the apartment was as it has always been, to Orlea’s knowledge, unused and empty. Trotting across the space, Orlea’s tail trailed through the dust, leaving a wide trail behind them in the dust, though Orlea was not concerned. For as long as Orlea had been in this place, no person had even knocked on the door of the apartment, and the dust always seemed to return quickly to leave no trace of Orlea’s passing through, which was already a very rare occurrence. Once they reached the door to their balcony, Orlea sat and considered it for a moment. Perhaps that wasn’t their balcony, but was just another layer to whatever game the wisps had been playing with them. Maybe passing through the glass door here would send them back to the

At last, Orlea had made it to the centerpiece of the strange place. The old and decrepit mansion that sat perched atop the hill surrounded by the fog that had been the only real land mark here. As soon as Orlea was completely past them, the large iron gates closed behind them, sealing with a loud clang. Orlea stole a glance back, seeing now as dozens of wisps were congregating behind them, they moved quickly through the air, swirling around Orlea and past to frame the edge of the house. “Come in Orlea...We’ve been waiting…” The voice called out, more wisps flowing from the house and once again creating a path around Orlea that led straight to the front door. This path was welcoming, it was an invitation to finally find the source of this ongoing mystery. Orlea watched as the door opened, a faint blue glow emanating from the inside of the house. “Go on Orlea...Go on…” The voice was pushing Orlea forward, and Orlea complied. At this point, they saw no other option as viable than to

The house loomed even larger than it had this entire time, a titanic structure atop this seemingly small hill Orlea had been sent to. The fog had returned, further adding to the place’s eerie atmosphere as they continue to climb upwards. The wisps were getting more and more active the closer Orlea got to the house, swirling all around, coming into and out of view as they seemed to merge with the fog. If the wisps were their guide, then Orlea was on the right track to getting back home, at least they hoped. The fog grew denser and denser, though unlike when the wisps brought them here, Orlea felt no sense of dread from it. The fog wasn’t pushing them along here, it was merely obscuring something. “We don’t want you to go yet Orlea...We want you to stay…” The voices said through the fog, Orlea continued walking though, ignoring their pestering now. While they were talkative, Orlea had no reason to believe the wisps could actually do anything to stop them, although the ever thickening fog

Orlea’s trek through the mysterious other place continued, seemingly without end, and there had been no indication that some sort of change was coming. Looking up, Orlea could still see the decrepit looking house that loomed over this landscape, but also still had no idea how they were going to go about reaching that place. The fact that it was so prominent and visible despite the ever shifting landscape lended some evidence to the home’s importance to whatever game the wisps that led Orlea here were playing. As time began to pass on and on, Orlea was overcome with a new sense of unease, unlike the general strange atmosphere this place carried, this was a targeted dread. Orlea felt eyes were on them and could not shake that feeling of being watched. Scanning their surroundings, Orlea tensed themself up, snapping their head around to and fro in a seemingly vain attempt at spotting the onlooker. “Orlea...Look over here Orlea…” the ethereal voice called out again, this time louder

At this point in their journey, Orlea was feeling rather fatigued. The maze had proven incredibly tiring to Orlea, and having just been spat out of it essentially did nothing to relieve that exhaustion. As they searched this new area for a place they could rest their head, Orlea realized just how quiet things had become. While exploring the maze the ground had a layer of leaves that crunched underfoot and even if it wasn’t speaking directly to Orlea, there was still a constant hum of noise from the wisps that had been pushing Orlea through the maze. Here though, it was silent. The ground was covered by damp grass and gave a little with each step, and there was no evidence of the wisps and whatever they were planning for Orlea. Enjoying this present solace, Orlea looked around their surroundings for a place to rest their head, a structure in the distance catching their eye. With a slow trot, the esk approached and discovered that it appeared to be the building that Orlea lived on, just

Orlea’s attention was drawn to a glimmer of light amongst the unkempt grass before them. Some object that didn’t fit into the strange landscape Orlea had been exploring, and leaving the field of raspberry bushes behind, Orlea walked towards whatever this item was. As they got within arm’s reach however, Orlea found their body stricken with a sudden paralysis, as if some force was holding them in place. “Not let Orlea...You’ll have to try harder to find what you’re looking for.” The voice that had been Orlea’s companion on this surreal and supernatural journey spoke into Orlea’s mind. This time the voice seemed to carry some sort of disdain towards Orlea’s attempt to pick up the shimmering thing. “Let’s make this fun...Good luck!” The voice trailed off as Orlea felt their ability to move return. When their foot finally touched the ground however, their surrounding had changed greatly. Instead of the clearing they had been standing in moments before was gone, now Orlea found they were

Orlea took stock of their new surroundings, this circular hill in the center of a great black void, the fog that had served as a path to this place now encompassed it as Orlea plodded down, stepping onto the soft dirt at the hill’s base. The earth gave under Orlea’s paws somewhat as the esk began to investigate the place, at first it seemed all there was to the hill’s base was dirt and some grass, but then the glowing began. At first, Orlea wondered if perhaps it would be more of the same wisps that guided them here, but this glow was different. While the Wisp’s seemed to burn and flicker a warm blue color, this glow was different. Orlea watched as motes of a calming green color began to softly appear from the ground itself. Carefully, Orlea lowered their head close in an attempt to investigate the head, and to their surprise they found seeds. Further searching revealed that each glow was a seed, barely buried under the ground and beginning to glow. Looking up and around, Orlea noticed

“Orlea...Orlea!” A haunting voice called out to Orlea as they sat on their balcony, watching the city come alive the way it did every night. So many lights on once the sun went down, it was like the sky and earth had switched because it was too bright to see stars anymore.
“Orlea...Follow us Orlea…” While it was haunting and ethereal, the voice was also whimsical in its way of speaking to the Esk. Craning their long neck, Orlea searched their balcony for the source of this voice, seeing nothing out of the ordinary in the humble balcony the creature called home now.
